So it’s been aaaages since I got nominated for the Real Neat Blogger Award by my super-awesome friend-CP Erin and I still haven’t responded because I’m a TERRIBLE FRIEND.
Ok, not exactly, but these past two weeks have been completely insane in my life, and a lot of things have been happening. I got my first rejection letter! I was beyond excited, probably because it means it’s the first ‘no’ on the path to a ‘yes’. I had a friend’s dancing presentation (which got me super inspired to my Nano project), got into my first Krav Maga class (awesome, but it feels like your body has died for three days after), went to my niece’s birthday and so many other things — including two job interviews at the same place, which kept calling me back to do one more interview.
And guess what? They hired me!
I can’t tell how excited I am about this job because it was basically a coincidence — I found the ad on facebook and decided to try it out because you know, who knows? Now I’m working at the Fanatee company, which is a very small but suuuper cool game/app maker company that makes word games! My job is basically clearing the database — and their main game, STOP, is one I used to play a lot on paper when I was a kid, with my deceased grandma. It brings great childhood memories for me, and it’s really fun work to do, so I’m really glad they called me. If you’re interested in downloading it (and I highly recommend it because, you know, I work there, and IT’S FUN) you can find it in the Playstore and on Applestore.
Anyway, right now I’m whipping out another draft for fun while I wait for my CP’s critiques to come back in and do yet another round of revisions. I’m excited to get there — and to Nano, in november, where my story is not yet completely defined, but I’m jumping on the whole Arabian Nights/Aladdin train, and hoping to see where it takes me 😀
And now, to today’s tag! You know the rules — First rule of Fight Club… oh wait. The rules.
- Put the award logo on your blog
- Answer the 7 question set by the person who nominated you and create 7 new ones
- Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blog
- Nominate however many people you like, linking to their blogs
- Let them know you nominated them.
I won’t be nominating anyone though, because all the people I know have already done this tag D: But if you’d like to, go ahead! And now I’ll be answering Erin‘s questions, which are always suuuuuuuuuper fun.
1. What is your favorite form of social media and why??
Hmmmm, I hate picking, HAHA. Twitter and Instagram are a top choice for me — I just love ranting and posting pictures all the time. But I guess my real addiction is Pinterest, which I’m SUPER COMPLETELY obsessed with. I love it there and I can spend hours pinning/looking at stuff. It’s also super-helpful to my creative process, and whenever I feel out of the mood in my WIP, I just jump back in there and gather some ideas. Same goes for all the ideas in my head — all of them have boards, and it’s great putting stuff there when I’m not writing it yet.
2. If you had to pick three tv shows that you had to watch for life, what would they be?
How to Get Away with Murder might be my favorite TV Show FOR LIFE. I absolutely adore it and all the characters and all those GRAY MORALS. That’s my jam. For the other two, I’d probably pick Heroes — because I love it — and Brooklyn 99, because it makes me laugh out loud. (And if I had to pick a 4th, I’d go ALL THE WAY with Community.)
3. What do you prefer–drafting or revising?
I don’t have a distinct preference — I love drafting because it gives me a lot of freedom to say anything I want, even if it doesn’t make any sense. I love revising because it also makes me look at a story a different way — see something that wasn’t there before, watching it improve slowly but surely.
4. What book(s) will you always recommend to others?
Harry Potter would be the first, OF COURSE. Who hasn’t read Harry Potter? A book I also love and recommend to literally everyone is Throne of Glass. The Book Thief, as well, because it’s a book that’s close to my heart. And currently I’m trying to get everyone I know and their grandmothers to read The Secret History and The Martian.
5. What Disney song describes you best?
OH MY GOD, THIS QUESTION. ERIN, WHY!!!!!!! Slightly inclined to say ‘Let it Go’, because it has been my theme song for soooo long and it was one of the reasons I got so badly addicted to frozen. But I’m going to go with “A Dream is a Wish Your heart makes” — Cinderella is my favorite Disney movie, and she’s such a kind person and eternally an inspiration to everyone <3 And you know, dreaming keeps things going. Same goes for Rapunzel’s “I’ve Got a Dream” — we’re all a little crooked but hey, we all got dreams 😀
6. What’s the book you’re currently reading?? How do you like it?
I’m finally picking up Six of Crows, but I’ve only been so far in as chapter 2 )’: All the work from college is keeping me from it, but I can’t wait to get back to Bardugo’s worldbuilding, because basically, SHE’S AMAZING.
7. What’s your pet peeve in grammar??
Hard one! I can’t say I have that many, to be honest — mostly because English is my second language so I get where people come from with their mistakes. But one that gets me slightly irritated everytime is who’s/whose. EVERY DAMN TIME.
Again, Erin, thanks for tagging me! And if you’ve kept reading up until here, all the hugs <3
